This book is addressed to the students examined in the Exhibition and to those who teach it.
It contains codified theory so that it is easy to understand, practically useful and effectively applicable. The subjects included in the exams are classified according to what is asked of them. Specific examples of each type of topic are listed, selectively, exactly as they are formulated.
Then, the content of the answer that must be given to each type of subject and the way in which it must be formulated, since it matters not only what we write, but also how we write it. We believe that it is crucial that the student not only knows what will be asked of him and how it will be asked of him, but also that he is able to manage it effectively.
This spirit also runs through the examination criteria that follow. There are examination criteria set in exams, so that the student becomes familiar with the type of topics asked and manages them properly, i.e. to be able to give apt, correct, complete and well-substantiated answers to them. There are also many other examination criteria, classified by thematic units, with texts and topics noteworthy for their content, structure and language according to the subject matter.
Finally, there are exercises to enrich the vocabulary suitable for the student’s practice, since such are requested every year in the Hellenic Examinations.
All test criteria and vocabulary exercises are answered at the end of the book. The criteria and the way in which they are formulated are, of course, very important. We believe, however, that more important are the answers to them. That is why emphasis was placed both on the content of the answers and on the way they were worded and presented. We recommend, therefore, that students study them with care and attention to detail, in order to be introduced to the spirit in which they were written and to derive the maximum possible benefit from them.
The diagrammatic organization of the subject, although it has the adequacy and logical organization required, leaves the student much room for autonomy in supplementing the knowledge, ideas and arguments presented, in their structure and expression. The development of these topics with completeness, sequence, coherence and beauty is found in the first and second issues of “Persuasive speech” by Sp. Koutras, published by Savvalas.
